My Story/About - So Far

Welcome Traveler, My name is Andrew Vaughn Charron.
I'm an Animator & Visual Storyteller from SouthEast MI, USA
My handle on most social platforms is, @PsychopompStyx
(As an aside, I write my full given name becuase I am very proud of my middle name, Vaughn, a story for another time maybe)Growing up in the late 90's, I was fascinated by storytelling and specifically by how the pictures from a story I read could come to life on the screen, weaving a tale that took me to a place of pure inspiration and desire I had only ever imagined in my head.
In the Mid 2000's I discovered I could make my own stories come to life through Animation in the form of Stop Motion, specifiaclly with the most accessible thing I had on hand, LEGO. While it was simple and not clean, it was a step in the direction I wanted to go. This discovery proved to myself I could tell stories like those that inspired me. I found joy through animation, and the path it paved before me led to other avenues of artistic expression as the years went on through 2D, 3D, Acting, Sculpting, & Model Making. All of this wonder and testing of mediums culminated when I made the choice to return to where I started and attend University receiving my BFA - Entertainment Arts & Design from the College For Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, MI.

About My Work

A large portion of my work comes in the form of digital mediums (Pixel art, Animation, Digital illustration) and focuses on vibrant and playful themes. Aside from my artwork, I love the act of Critically Thinking and Analyzing the functionality of an idea or product, formulating new ways to approach designs. At heart, I am just a bigger kid than I once was. Whom even at 27, plays with LEGO, and draws silly little pictures on the backs of napkins and notepads. I take pride in those passions because, to me, they are pure acts of focus, passion, & stress relief and I am thankful I found a place to express what I want in a way I want.I hope learning a bit more about me and my work has brought us closer as people and creatives, even if we never meet, thank you for taking your time to be here, this was just one more way I was able to express myself. The way I see it, your path lead here. Even if just for a short while, and I hope to connect with you again soon.Andrew V. Charron,
